The great bell chant

May the sound of this bell penetrate deep into the Cosmos

even in the darkest spots, living beings are able to hear it clearly

so that all suffering in them cease,

understanding comes to their heart

and they transcend the path of sorrow and death.

The universal dharma door is already open

The sound of the rising tide is heard clearly

The miracle happens: a beautiful child

appears in the heart of a lotus flower

One simple drop of this compassionate water

is enough to bring back the refreshing spring

to our mountains and rivers.

Listening to the bell

I feel the afflictions in me begin to dissolve

My mind calm, my body relaxed,

a smile is born on my lips.

Following the sound of the bell my breath brings me back

to the safe island of mindfulness

In the gardens of my heart

the flowers of peace bloom beautifully.

To be human

“…To be human
is to become visible
while carrying
what is hidden
as a gift to others.

To remember
the other world
in this world
is to live in your
true inheritance.

You are not
a troubled guest
on this earth,
you are not
an accident
amidst other accidents
you were invited
from another and greater
night
than the one
from which
you have just emerged…”

From “What to remember when waking”

In Paradisum (Requiem)

May angels lead you into paradise; upon your arrival, may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May the ranks of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, once the poor man, may you have eternal rest.

Magia, simplemente…

I will have become

I will have become like
the madman running
to see the moon
in the window,
the hawk
I saw tracing the cliff edge
above the river.

I will be the man
I have pursued all along
and finally caught.
I will be
all my intuitions
and all my desires
and then I will walk
slowly down the steps
as if dressed in white
and wade into
the water for
a second baptism.

I will be like
someone who cannot
hide their love
but
my joy will become ordinary
and everyday
and like a lover
I will find out
exactly what it is like
to be the happiest,
the only one
in creation
to really
understand how much,
I’m just
a hair’s breadth
from dying.
